The term “sheep” or “sheeple” is generally used as an insult to indicate someone who follows another or a belief blindly. Ironically, using this term is to engage in exactly the thing it accuses others of because while sheep are pretty stupid animals and they do follow, it wouldn’t be correct to say they follow blindly. Also, I think it is quite clear that everyone has a shepherd.
Sheep follow the one who has loved them. They are very good at identifying the voice of their shepherd and will follow that voice even in the midst of great confusion.
To that end, I believe that every person has a sense of calling. That calling is that person’s shepherd. That call is their shepherd’s voice. Whether you find greater meaning in science or manifesting yourself or worshipping Yahweh, the Loving and Just Creator God or seeking peace so you can find oneness with the universe or whatever else, that calling is your shepherd.
Everyone will follow their shepherd, sometimes in faith and without clear and obvious reason. This is human nature.
