Friendship is not something others give to you, but something you give to others.
Friendship is built on grace, where grace is what you give to others when they don’t deserve it. If you give to someone, with the expecation of return, they aren’t your friend, but your debtor. If you enter into a relationship expecting something for nothing, you are not their friend, but their dependent.
